Satyanarayan Puja is most commonly performed on Purnima (full moon day) of every month. It can also be performed on auspicious occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, housewarming, or fulfillment of a wish.

Typically, a complete Satyanarayan Puja including the Katha takes 2-3 hours. It can be extended if a havan is also included.

The prasad is "Sheera" — a sweet preparation made from wheat flour, ghee, sugar, and milk. It is considered sacred and distributed among all devotees.
